The Pope has his Very Own Secret Cologne
This morning we learned that the pope has become the proud owner of a private—and proprietary—signature scent. Containing "hints of lime tree, verbena and grass," the pope’s cologne was concocted by Italian perfume maker Silvana Casoli. Now, this Pope is no stranger to high style (the Wall Street Journal has reported on his Prada loafers in the past) and Casoli is no stranger to high-profile clients—she has created scents for Madonna and King Juan Carlos of Spain. Still, it must have been a pressure-packed order. I mean, it’s the papacy. “Holiness” has got to be a tough base note to nail down.
The unfortunate news: The pope’s cologne is not for sale. You’ll never get to smell like Benedict. And even the list of ingredients is a secret between the pontiff and his perfumer. ”I would not ever repeat the same perfume for another customer,” Casoli told The Guardian. Shucks. But! We may have found something even better…
Costume National’s Scent Intense: You’ve Got Male
Some guys use whatever soap is in the shower. Others carefully consider the field and select the best option. Eric, our resident grooming god, falls in the latter camp. Once a week, he’ll be sharing his product findings and lifestyle tips.
I’m a big fan of scents that can be worn by both guys and girls. Although, one possible (and potentially embarrassing) pitfall here is, as a guy, smelling too flowery or feminine. That is absolutely not the case with Costume National’s Scent Intense, deigned by famed perfumer Laurent Bruyere.
